Bioavailability is the name of the game when it comes to herbal extracts. Whether intended for medicinal or recreational use, it all boils down to absorption - after all, what does the mg amount really mean if your body cant absorb and utilize the amount advertised on the front of the bottle?! Simply put, our bodies have what is referred to as an “endocannabinoid system,” which is a network or receptor sites specifically programmed to receive and absorb cannabinoids, CBD and others! The highest concentration of these specialized receptor sites are located in our brains, which makes bioavailability tricky since we need these valuable cannabinoids to cross what is called the “blood brain barrier” (which is designed to keep unwanted and potentially harmful chemicals out). As mentioned above, in order to achieve ideal absorption of CBD, crossing the blood brain barrier (where a great majority of cannabinoid receptor sites are concentrated) is key - Enter MCT oil (medium chain triglycerides) derived from coconut oil! This stable, magical oil has the unique ability of crossing into the brain, bypassing typical absorption through digestion and the liver metabolism. By combining our raw, full-spectrum CBD extract with MCT oil, MaxMed tincture has the ability to provide primary absorption through the brain as well as secondary metabolism through the liver, which results in superior bioavailability!!
